How to be a state champion
Every bracket between the end of the regular season and the podium at state — in order, with how many wrestlers advance out of each one.
Every number on this page is per weight class. “The top 6 advance” means six wrestlers at 106, six at 113, and so on — not six from the whole tournament.
Every path to state
Pick your section above to see just yours. Sections that run divisions have more than one path; a school competes in exactly one of them.

How many make it
CIF State Championships
40
wrestlers in each weight class
Fed by 10 qualifying events across the state — about 560 boys wrestlers over 14 weight classes. One of them ends the week as a state champion.
A few honest notes
- Allocations move. Sections re-cut divisions and change how many spots they get, sometimes between seasons. This page reads the current setup, so it changes when that does — but always confirm against your section's official bulletin before planning around a number.
- Which division your school is in is decided by your section, not by us, so a section that runs divisions shows all of them here.
- Placing at these events is also what moves you up the leaderboard — the deeper the round, the more a finish is worth. The full formula spells out exactly how much.
